EFFECT OF ASCORBIC ACID AND DIFFERENT WATERING REGIME ON GROWTH OF GROUNDNUT (Arachis hypogea L.) IN AZARE TOWN, BAUCHI STATE

Abstract

The research was conducted at Aminu Saleh College of Education Azare, Bauchi State. This study was carried out to evaluated the effect of ascorbic acid on growth and yield of groundnut (ArachisHypogea L.).  The experimental design was complete randomized block design (CRBD) in a factorial experiment with four (4) replicates with sixteen treatments, the treatments considered four (4) levels concentrations of Ascorbic acid. The data collected were statistically analyzed using GenStat software package 17^thedition. The result from t-test indicated the mean between treatments were compared least significant difference at (p<0.05) were observed. The result obtained from the field study showed that groundnut responded well to all the levels of concentration of ascorbic acid applied on vegetative growth attribute, were the treatment of ascorbic acid with water regime gave the highest yield. . It is recommended that, the used of ascorbic acid influenced and promoted growth and yield of groundnut plants.
