PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF TRICKLE IRRIGATION SYSTEMS

Abstract

The field experiments were conducted to evaluation the performance of drip irrigation systems at Kaduna Polytechnic School Farm Nariya during 2012-13 and 2013-14. The performance of drip system was evaluated on the basis of parameters like average discharge (Qavg), field emission uniformity (EUf), design emission uniformity (EUd), application efficiency (EUa and Ea), coefficient of variance (Cv) and statistical uniformity coefficient (SUC). The distribution efficient of variance of 90.47, 90.26 percent of open field and 91.50, 93.33 percent for green house and SUC values of 90.35,90.62 percent for open field and 91.37, 92.23 percent for green house during both the year respectively were estimated. As per the ASAE standards, the Cv is during both the year respectively were estimated. As per the ASAE standards, the Cv is classified as good performance for entire experiment during both the year since calculated Cv is less than 0.10 the designed drip irrigation system was operated excellently as the values of Eu were nearly equal or more than to design criteria of 90 percent in each case.
