INFLUENCE OF EDUCATION MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM ON THE ADMINISTRATION OF PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN ZONE B SENATORIAL DISTRICT BENUE STATE, NIGERIA

Abstract
The study assessed the influence of education management information system on the administration of public secondary schools in Zone B Senatorial District Benue State of Nigeria. The study was guided by four objectives with four research questions and hypotheses. The research design used for this study was the descriptive survey research design. The total population of the study consisted of 1,665 subjects obtained from all the 55 public secondary schools. The sample size of the study consisted of 333 respondents. The instrument was validated and it yielded 0.90 as the validity index. The instrument was pilot tested and the reliability index of 0.74 was obtained. Descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions while chi-square statistic was used to test all the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The major findings of the study indicated that Admission Management System has significant influence on the administration of public secondary schools in zone B senatorial district Benue State Nigeria, Attendance Management System has significant influence on the administration of public secondary schools in zone B senatorial district Benue State Nigeria, Examination Management System has significant influence on the administration of public secondary schools in zone B senatorial district Benue State Nigeria and Financial Management System has significant influence on the administration of public secondary schools in Zone B Senatorial District Benue State Nigeria. The study recommended among others that the Benue State Teachers’ Service Board that is responsible for promotion of teachers into administrative positions in secondary schools should subject teachers to be promoted to administrative positions to undergo practical test on the use of Admission Management System so that those that will occupy the administrative positions in secondary schools will endeavor to use the module for effective conduct of admission activities in the secondary school system.
