THE USE OF SMARTPHONE AND PARENT-CHILD INTERACTIONS
Abstract
Interaction is the bedrock of family cohesiveness and intimacy where parents share responsive relations with children. Strong emotional connections between children and parents is essential for the development and overall well-being of the child. The existing relationship between parents and children is an indicator of the future that is ahead of the child. Smartphones are necessary for navigating the digital realities of today’s world, parents need it to manage the family and maintain communication with children. The aim of this study is to contribute to knowledge by proffering submissions and conclusions for parent-child interactions through a review of existing literature This study is anchored on the attachment theory which explains the bond between parents and children as the foundation for a wholesome child. Smartphones are here to stay and it can be productively engaged when interacting with children by parents providing a good example for children to emulate; get appropriate information and the right attitude or approach for the best interest of the child.
