THE IMPERATIVE OF BLOCK CHAIN TECHNOLOGY IN NIGERIA GENERAL ELECTIONS
Abstract
Since the first republic, Nigeria has used a paper-based voting system for elections, which falls far short of even the most minimal international norms and cannot be considered credible. The study looks at the necessity of blockchain technology for the general elections in Nigeria (NGEs). The paper's foundation was game theory. The sample size of 322 respondents was determined using the Godden sampling method. The sampled respondents were asked to fill out a standardised questionnaire with five likert scale points. The regression model was used to assess the data that was gathered. The study discovered that block chain technology significantly affects NGEs. The study makes the recommendation that INEC keep up its concerted efforts in the direction of block chain technology in order to achieve a credible electoral process in the voting system based on the research findings.
