THE EFFECT OF INDISCRIMINATE DUMPING OF REFUSE IN EDO STATE, NIGERIA: A CASE STUDY OF ETSAKO WEST L.G.A., EDO STATE
Abstract
This study is aimed at identifying the effect of indiscriminate dumping of refuse and possible health hazard in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State. These research questions were raised in order to carry out the research questionnaire which was used to collect data from 50 respondents. Data collected were analyzed using sample percentage. The result shows that method of refuse management in Etsako West Local Government is poorly organized and the problem of the waste management has caused a lot of concern to good number of people. On the basis of the above findings, the researcher recommended that the government have a vital role to play in order to stamp out problems of poor refuse management among the people of EtsakoWest Local Government Area. The peoples should be enlightened using Medias like radio, television and newspapesr about the effect of poor refuse management on health. And lastly effective supervision on council, community, health workers should be embarked upon.
