ANALYSIS OF PREVALENCE OF DIABETES MELLITUS IN OYO STATE USING MULTIVARIATE ANALYSIS OF VARIANCE (MANOVA)

Abstract
This study investigates the prevalence of diabetes mellitus in Oyo state using multivariate statistical analysis. Based on geographical location/population density, the entire state was classified as urban, semi-urban and rural each represented by Ibadan, Saki and Tede respectively. Data on Blood Sugar level, Cholesterol level and Weight of the diabetic patients were extracted from the records of three hospitals across Oyo state. The data were analyzed using multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) to determine if the prevalence of diabetes in the three locations is significantly different or not. From the result, Fcal. = 1.96 < Ftab. = 2.45, this implies that null hypothesis which states that mean vector of the three population is equal is sustained at 0.05 S.L
