EXPLORING THE EFFICACY OF TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION IN TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAMMES AMIDST ECONOMIC HARDSHIP IN 21ST CENTURY NIGERIA

Abstract
In 21st century Nigeria, amidst economic adversities, the integration of technology in teacher education programmes emerges as a pivotal discourse. This position paper delves into the significance of technological integration within the context of Nigerian teacher education against the backdrop of economic challenges. By examining the efficacy of technology integration, this research seeks to illuminate the transformative potential it holds in enhancing teacher education amidst economic hardships. Through a comprehensive literature review, this paper elucidates the multifaceted benefits technology offers to teacher education, including but not limited to, pedagogical innovation, access to resources, and professional development. Moreover, it scrutinizes the challenges and constraints impeding effective integration, such as infrastructural deficiencies and digital literacy gaps. Ultimately, this research advocates for concerted efforts to prioritize and invest in technology integration within Nigerian teacher education programmes, asserting its indispensable role in equipping educators with the competencies requisite for navigating contemporary educational landscapes.
