RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ENTREPRENEURIAL ATTITUDE, PASSION AND MOTIVATION ON ENTREPRENEURIAL INTENTION, AMONG POLYTECHNICS STUDENTS IN BAUCHI STATE: MEDIATING ROLE OF RISK TAKING

Abstract
Tertiary education is no longer a passport to secure employment for graduates. This requires young graduates to consider entrepreneurship and self-employment as a viable career option. Understanding the relationship of entrepreneurial attitude, passion and motivation on entrepreneurial intention; mediating role of risk-taking is therefore, and becomes important. Cross-sectional research has been conducted, from ten departments in polytechnics within Bauchi state on the population of 1,176 and the sample of 349 students by using (Krejcie & Morgan, table, 1970). 349 questionnaires distributed. Data collated has being analyzed by using Descriptive statistics and partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) in SmartPLS. Findings indicates that analysis revealed significant positive correlations between these attributes, indicating their interconnectedness. Risk Taking had a significant mediating effect on the relationship between Entrepreneurial Attitude, Passion, Motivation, and Intention. Research recommended that to encourage entrepreneurial activity, polytechnics should create environments that foster positive entrepreneurial attitudes, motivations, and passions, and students should recognize the value of risk-taking in achieving their entrepreneurial goals and devise effective risk-management strategies. Research implication shed light on the complex relationships that exist within the entrepreneurial domain, and discovered positive relationships between attitude, motivation, passion, risk-taking, and intention, emphasizing the interconnectedness of these characteristics.
