UTILISATION OF INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS TO THE ACHIEVEMENT OF EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES AMONG SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN BAYELSA STATE
Abstract
The study assessed the utilization of instructional materials to the achievement of educational objectives among secondary schools in Bayelsa State. It adopted survey design with a population of 210 principals. A sample size of 138 was selected using Taro Yemane formula. However, 130 questionnaires were successfully retrieved for the final analysis. The study utilized a 10- item questionnaire titled Instructional Materials Utilization Questionnaire (IMUQ) structure in 4.point likert scale of strongly agree, agree, disagree and strongly this agreed. Mean statistics was used to analyze the research questions while t-test was used to test the hypothesis. The study findings revealed that there is no significant different between rural and urban principals mean rating of the utilization of instructional materials to the achievement of educational objectives among secondary schools in Bayelsa State. It was recommended that: As a matter urgency, the Ministry of Educations should partner with the non-governmental agencies like New Globe, UNICEF, and UNESCO in acquiring more instructional educational resources for secondary schools in Bayelsa State. This will further enhance the adequacy and utilization of valuable instructional educational resource such as computers to trigger the needed expansion of secondary education.
