EVALUATION OF QUALITY MANAGEMENT PRACTICES OF BUILDING CONSTRUCTION FIRMS IN KWARA STATE
Abstract
This study will assess the quality of management practices of Nigerian building construction firms with some specific objectives such as: Identifying building construction firms (kwara state, Nigeria) Examining Quality Management (QM) and its principles Examining current Quality Management practices (QM) in the Nigerian construction industry Critically evaluating the success and obstacles to the implementation of QM in the construction industry Methodology Sample of Questionnaire to Construction Firms (Ilorin metropolis, Nigeria) This construction company cuts across both the building and civil works Sample of 10 Architects Quantity Surveyors 20 Builders 10 Engineers The study revealed that the quality management journey to quality management practices is for those who place greater emphasis on continuous ‘internal improvements’ rather than ‘international marketing’ and ‘external pressures’ However, this result does not necessarily reflect the findings of the study regarding the adequate commitment and support of top management towards quality management. Therefore, you could argue that it’s not enough for a management team to demonstrate their commitment through word of mouth; it needs to be seen as transparent across the entire company through appropriate support, tracking, consistency, and quality orientation. Generally speaking, quality management doesn’t work without good leadership, and dynamic leadership creates the drive to implement a quality management approach. These headwinds form the core of this research framework.
