Three tertiary institutions comprising one federal, one state and private university were randomly selected for the study. The reliability coefficient of the instrument was ascertained using test-retest method, which yield .63 coefficient values after applying Pearson Product Moment Correlation- PPMC analysis. The data obtained from filed were analyzed using descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation to answer research questions as deemed appropriate while t-test and Duncan’s Multiple Range Test were used to test the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed significant influence of communication on planning, organization and directing of sports programmes in the administration of sports across tertiary institutions in northeast of Nigeria. Based on the findings, it was concluded that as far as tertiary institutions in the northeastern states of Nigeria is concerned, communication significantly influence sports administration.
