INVESTIGATING THE INFLUENCE OF CURRICULUM DESIGN ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION OUTCOMES IN COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, AKWANGA, NASARAWA STATE, NIGERIA

Abstract
This study investigated the influence of curriculum design on entrepreneurship education outcomes in the College of Education, Akwanga, Nasarawa State. The research focused on two key aspects of curriculum design: curriculum components (goals, content, learning experiences, assessment, and resources) and curriculum structure (framework, interdisciplinary integration, sequencing, flexibility, and experiential learning). A descriptive survey design was adopted, with a sample of 158 vocational education lecturers who responded to a structured Curriculum Design and Entrepreneurship Education Rating Scale (CDEERS). Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and chi-square tests at a 0.05 significance level. Findings revealed that curriculum components significantly influenced entrepreneurship education outcomes, with respondents agreeing that alignment with educational objectives, collaborative learning, tailored curricula, digital tools, and feedback mechanisms enhanced students' entrepreneurial competencies (Cluster Mean = 3.93, VHE). Similarly, curriculum structure had a significant impact, as internships, competitions, practical activities, and interdisciplinary integration were found to improve students' real-world application, management skills, and innovation (Cluster Mean = 3.50, VHE). The null hypotheses were rejected, confirming that both curriculum components (χ² = 578.861, p = 0.000) and structure (χ² = 69.848, p = 0.000) significantly affect entrepreneurship education outcomes. The study concluded that a well-structured curriculum with relevant components enhances entrepreneurial skills, knowledge, and attitudes. Recommendations include periodic curriculum reviews, faculty capacity building, and policy reforms by educational bodies to integrate experiential learning and interdisciplinary approaches. These measures will ensure graduates are better equipped for entrepreneurial ventures, fostering economic growth and innovation.
